Although it’s a quintessential element of bedding, it is often overlooked when it comes to laundry day. Without any spills or stains, your comforter should be washed at least 2-4 times per year. Before attempting to clean it at home, be sure to check the laundry label to see if it is machine washable! Our next blog post will discuss tips on washing your comforter and the advantages of trusting it to professionals.
Washing:
While most bedding is machine washable, it is important to check the care label for laundry instructions. Certain care labels may provide more specific instructions for different fabric types. If that’s the case, be sure to follow the label for optimal results. If given the green light to put your comforter in the washer with little to no instruction, use a mild detergent on a gentle cycle. Stains should be treated before placing them in the washer. Use a large-capacity washer with enough room to spare.
Drying:
After loading your comforter into the dryer, select a bulky cycle setting and set the temperature to a low or no heat setting. For the best results, rebalance and fluff the comforter periodically so it can evenly dry. Finish by air drying for several hours afterward. You may also wish to consider air drying to prevent shrinking.
