COVID-19 Statement

As we all come together as a community to tackle the challenges presented by the coronavirus (COVID-19), please know that Urban Valet is committed to the community and prepared to roll up our sleeves and do whatever we can to support the medical community, government officials, our employees and their families, and of course, our at risk neighbors. 

All stores are closed through April 20th.

ROUTE DELIVERY SERVICE will continue on a modified schedule until further notice:

• Regular Mon/Thurs Customers: Pickup/Delivery on Mondays only. 

• Regular Tues/Fri Customers: Pickup/Delivery on Tuesdays only. 

As far as COVID-19 and our cleaning processes, we can only examine the facts we have been given by the CDC.  Currently there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be transmitted from clothing to humans.   Furthermore, the CDC has stated that the virus is killed at temperatures over 167 degrees. At this time, our cleaning service is recommended by the CDC to properly clean & disinfect your garments. 

At Urban Valet, we have three main cleaning processes: Dry Cleaning, Wet Cleaning & Laundering.  The drycleaning process involves cleaning garments in a solvent-based solution.  Our solvent reclaiming dryers normally operate at 160 degrees.  Therefore for the time being we have decided to increase the dry temperature to 169 degrees to cover the 167 degree virus threshold.

The science behind wet cleaning & laundering is very similar. The combination of hot water, detergent & peroxide bleach (color safe bleach)  is similar to us washing our hands.  The washing process will remove any surface bacteria.  The drying and/or finishing process, including ironing, pressing, steaming, will neutralize the virus completely.

In addition, we have increased the frequency that we clean all surfaces & touch points.  Multiple sanitizing stations have been setup at each location, and in all delivery vans.  Use of gloves & masks where appropriate are also in place.
